My experience has generally been pretty smooth with the main drawback being that the graphics will not be as crisp as playing on a monitor. I have found that aiming with my head is a lot more enjoyable than trying to aim with a gamepad, so that is an added benefit vs playing a game in virtual desktop with a gamepad.
